I see you!
In the 8th grade I got bitten by a dog. The bite was pretty severe and it left me with stitches in my wrist. My hand had several puncture wounds. I was a transfer student coming from a private school education to a public school. J.T. as we will call him, spread a rumor that my horse had mauled my hand. You can imagine my disgust! How dare he suggest my perfect horse could do such a thing. We had a verbal throw down in the hall. That horse girl is fierce, do not provoke her.
I am a card carrying member of the horse girl club. I'm hear to tell you to follow your dreams! You want to be in the horse industry, don't take no for an answer. If my family had directed my future I would be a lawyer right now instead, I have reached a point in my career where I can sit here and type my experiences as part of my job.
I was 7 yrs old, riding on a familiar trail ride at my yearly summer hang out just south of Austin, Texas. This is what I will do for my life I thought to myself. 28 years later that little horse girl wasn't far off.
It looks great on paper and don't get me wrong I am eternally grateful for the journey that has brought me here. So very thankful of where this has brought me so far but the hard work and endless stress can make it feel like a life time of work already.
I am proud to say that from my humble beginnings as a horse crazy kid working for lessons and riding time I have made large accomplishments as a young business woman. I own what I hope to be an equestrian focal point for Central Texas for many years to come in Cedar Creek Saddle Club. I co founded a horse rescue where we take horses in poor shape and medical struggles, giving them new purpose while healing others at Restorative Equine Partnership 501c3 and I have my side passion project at Texas Western Dressage along with this blog.
SO to the little horse girl begging for lessons and soaking up all she can horse.... Keep going!
